Site updates...
Posted by on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at 12:38PM

I decided to rewrite the code that fetches and parses RDF files for inclusion in the BSD news section. The previous code (PHP) worked, but was incredibly slow at times, so I rewrote the parser in perl. It's being called from a cron job every half hour, and then the output is included in the page. Not quite as dynamic as it used to be, but the page loads much, much faster. This should make those of you stuck with dial-up connections happier :-)
