## Ramblings from the Editor ## Jim Mock It's been another busy month here in FreeBSD land. We *finally* got cvsupd set up for our existing mirrors and anyone interested in mirroring the site. For information on setting up a mirror and a supfile, see the mirrors page . Note that using cvsup is now the only way to mirror the site. It's grown too much for me to upload each issue to various mirrors, so any existing mirrors not using cvsup should move to it as soon as possible or your mirror won't be updated. We're also looking for more article contributions. If you have something you'd like to contribute, first check out the past issues to make sure it hasn't been covered (or if it has been, be sure you can put a different spin on it.. such as covering a topic more in depth, etc.), then either email me, or fill out our feedback form to let us know you'd like to write something. New issues usually come out on the 1st of the month, so if you'd like your article included in the next issue, keep in mind I need to have it by then. A few days before the end of the previous month is preferred so I can spell check it, convert it, and include it. I'm also toying with the thought of making a list of requested articles available somewhere on the site. It'll make it a little easier on people who want to contribute if a list is available. Unless I, or someone else, can think of a good reason for this not to happen, I should be able to put up a list starting with the next issue (Issue #8). Also, if anyone has ideas for another "Monthly Article" and wants to volunteer to write monthly, I'd like to hear about it. Any questions or comments about the site in general are welcome too. Last but not least, and effort is underway to put a *BSD magazine into print called 'The BSD Journal'. It will be non-profit, with proceeds going toward possibly sending subscribers a CDROM once a year, the individual and organized efforts to continue development of the *BSDs (such as the FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD Projects), and various other worthy non-profit organizations designed on promoting and developing *BSD and software for it. At this time, it appears as though some articles from our humble little 'zine will be included in it :-) Check out their web site at http://www.bsdjournal.com/. Until next month, - Jim $Id: editor.txt,v 1.1 2000/02/16 08:07:52 jim Exp $
